Me and Ernie-October 2009

December 2009

Here it is Christmas season again. I have been so busy this year with a wonderful man in my life. Being with him is making the holidays so much better. Ernie and I have decorated the house with the help of my granddaughters Emme and Anna. They love to help! Along with Ernie comes his wonderful stepdaughter, Pam. I was asked to help her with her Christmas party and I was glad to help bake cookies and make several kinds of dip. I thought I liked snowmen, but not compared to Pam. She has over 500 different snowmen.
Tomorrow, December 17th, is Emme's 9th birthday. We are going to wait until Saturday to have cake, but what an exciting time.

Gardening in 2009

July is here already and my flowers and vegetable plants have been growing for some time now. My flowers are full and beautiful on my patio using impatiens and begonias and a hugh boston fern. I only get morning sun on the patio and then by 1 it is usually partially shady. In the front flower bed I used a rose bush and marigolds around the edge. I try to get perennials in the front, but some of the ones I have tried I don't care for and they will be removed. I used 2 different dahlias that produce large showy flowers and a beautiful brown willowy grass. In my boxes on the front porch I originally used petunias and they were wonderful, but alas, they get leggy and not so wonderful, so I switched them and used begonias there too, as they can stand anything!
I am in the process of learning more about gardening from the Horticultural site and from books I need to read.
Will write more when I can. I do love gardening, inside and out, and will know next time more than I know now.
